Solving the Database Setup Problem

The idea for Gately was born out of real struggles I saw makers face. Before Gately, I built a plugin called Framergenie, which helped creators extend their Framer sites with dynamic features. The vision was exciting, but there was one constant hurdle: database setup.
For many users, especially those who wanted to add authentication, memberships, or forms to their Framer sites, the process of configuring a database was confusing and time-consuming. They weren’t looking to become backend developers. They just wanted simple Framer authentication or a membership system that worked seamlessly without the headache of servers and SQL.
I remember countless conversations with users stuck on the same problem. Some were trying to set up authentication but couldn’t figure out how to connect their database. Others wanted to launch a membership site on Framer but didn’t know where to begin. The frustration was clear—what should have been an easy step in building their product turned into a roadblock.
That experience made me realize something important. Instead of expecting every creator to learn database configuration just to unlock features like authentication and memberships, why not create a platform where the database is already handled for them? What if they could add Framer authentication, memberships, forms, and workflows without ever worrying about infrastructure?
That was the moment Gately began to take shape. Gately was built to remove the backend burden entirely. With it, users don’t have to spin up servers, write backend code, or touch databases. They can simply connect their site or app and immediately start using the functionality they need.
Gately takes care of the complex parts so that makers, designers, and developers can focus on what they do best: creating and shipping. Whether it’s adding authentication to a Framer site, setting up memberships for a community, or managing forms and campaigns, everything works out of the box.
Framergenie showed me the pain points. Gately became the solution. And our mission now is clear: to make it effortless to extend sites and apps without the stress of managing infrastructure.
